Really, the design of a web site comes from everyone involved in the project, including the client, but in this instance we are talking about the 'graphic' design team whom are often responsible for the overall 'look' of the site and functionality within the main menu and other sections of the site.

More and more of our sites are becoming 'database driven'. What this means is that any site that has interactive features, such as self-maintenance, e-commerce, events calendars, newsletters, etc. are scripted using a type of programming called PHP. This form of scripting uses what's known as MySQL databases to store and control the data that is being generated by the visitor of the site. Upnorthwebs is fortunate to have one of the best PHP/MySQL programmers in Ontario on their team. Their motto is 'nothing is impossible'. They have proven this over and over again in some of the most complex searching database projects on the web.

Katherine Tadman is an established Graphic Designer and Web Site Developer since 1999, and a founding member of Upnorthwebs. Kathy is experienced in website development, print, company identity development and conceptual design. Ms. Tadman has independently undertaken both design and coding aspects of numerous websites, demonstrating her diversified skill, dedication, and professionalism. With exceptional creativity, as well as organizational and time-management skills, Kathy welcomes new challenges and responsibilities. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, and photography.

James Grant is an accomplished Linux Administrator and PHP developer with over 8 years of hands-on experience. Mr. Grant has gained extensive technical knowledge and experience, having implemented systems and networks and provided ongoing systems management both onsite and remotely for over one hundred client sites across Canada. Equipped with highly developed business and customer relationship management skills, Mr. Grant is also an experienced analytical problem solver who easily adapts to new environments. As well, his excellent verbal and written communication skills allow him to work efficiently and effectively within a team environment.

Andrea has been part of the Upnorthwebs team for the past four years and maintains several of our larger sites on an ongoing basis. She is a graphic artist with a background in database development and has also played an important role in researching data for large database driven web projects.

Andrea also handles most of the design of banner ads and other web related graphics. Her productivity is unequalled and she is often called upon to deal with rush projects or updates to existing sites.

She works well with Kathy on the design elements and seems to be able to produce graphics that the clients are thrilled with. Andrea has a knack for taking the client's artistic tastes and implementing them into professional graphics for Web development.
